Soleil Vailes is a multidisciplinary visual artist proudly based in Atlanta, Georgia. After leaving home to attend an arts boarding school in New England, she discovered a passion for documenting the cultural connections formed across diverse communities, especially those too often overlooked or underrepresented. That experience deepened her commitment to empathetic storytelling and continues to shape both her artistic practice and worldview.

Now a rising junior at Spelman College pursuing a BA in Photography, Vailes approaches art as both a creative outlet and a form of advocacy. Through photography and writing, she aims to honor stories that are complex, intimate, and deeply human—stories that deserve not only visibility, but care.

Though she works across multiple mediums, photography remains at the center of her practice. As an aspiring photojournalist, Soleil combines visual and written storytelling with her desire to explore the world and connect with people across cultures and experiences. Her work embraces vulnerability, curiosity, and creative risk, ensuring the individuals and communities she documents are not simply observed, but genuinely celebrated.

Her work has been featured in The Boston Globe, exhibited at Atlanta Contemporary, and shared through independent screenings, publications, and community-based arts programming. Through her work with the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta, Vailes continues to engage directly with Atlanta’s creative community while remaining committed to uplifting and preserving the stories of the people around her.
